Looking forward to the Watercolor Society of Oregon Convention!

Next weekend is the Watercolor Society of Oregon (WSO) Spring Convention. It will be held in Brookings, OR and the juror for the show is Stephen Quiller.  Since I’m the current Vice President of WSO, I have the privilege of being Steve’s assistant while he’s jurying the show. I don’t really know what that entails. I’d like to think that I can direct Steve to my painting and my friend’s painting but that’s probably not part of my job description, haha!

At the convention, there will be an opening reception, where the 80 paintings chosen for the show will be displayed. Then on Saturday there are various paint-outs and events. Steve will hold two critique sessions in the afternoon. In the evening we’ll have the awards banquet. 20 paintings will be given awards and will be displayed as a group in various galleried throughout Oregon for the next 6 months. It should be a fun weekend.

"Steel Bridge, Portland" is my painting that was chosen for the WSO Spring Show

If you are a watercolor painter and live in Oregon, you should consider becoming a member of WSO. We hold two shows/conventions/workshops per year and have well-known jurors. It’s also a great way to connect with other watercolor painters.
