New Watercolor Painting Critique

Painting critiques are a great way to see your painting objectively from another person’s viewpoint. Critiques are also an excellent method of learning about art design, composition and color.

This is a personalized painting critique performed by me. The painting is called, “Chicken Coop at SKS Ranch” and is painting by a fan of Create38.

In the critique, I discuss the following:

A. Artistic Elements

  • Idea
  • Message
  • Emotion
  • Mood

B. Design Elements

  • Composition
  • Value Structure
  • Focal Point
  • Pathway
  • Unity
  • Variety
  • Proportions

C. Technique

  • Color Harmony
  • Color Variation
  • Application of Paint

Summary of Strengths
Suggestions for Improvements
